Ostriches
In keeping with animals:
ostriches: whats the deal there?
I mean they hide their heads in sand when they are scared- that's real smart. Predators will be fooled.
They eat stones- clearly an indication of their small brains.
But the real bafflement is: If ostriches are poultry read: bird meat, then why is their meat red?

Good question!
..i think they eat stones to enhance their digestive system?...i know I do...BUT it is not only that their meat is red, it has the same texure as red meat and not like chicken or turkey.

Ostriches are just weird. I think cows and ostriches must have come from the same weird genetic pool. And strangely enough humans have decided to farm with both of them. What does that say about us?

i think putting your head in the sand is a great idea - if i can't see the world - it can't see me. as ppl i think we've internalised that notion to a degree

So, ostriches are smart, yet dumb?
Nice contradiction.

Eheheh... I was looking up why ostrich eat stones and came across your blog :) cool.
Never saw an ostrich in free-life (only in a farm and they weren't hiding at all) but I tried the ostrich burger once... Not sure if the meat was treated with some spices, but I didn't quite enjoy it. I am really not convinced about the ostrich meat yet ^^
ciao
